Li Z. Barber, PhD, MBA
Dr. Li Barber received her doctorate degree of molecular biology of infectious disease from department of Biochemistry of Imperial College London. After completing PhD Dr. Li Barber worked as research fellow in Professor Gordon Dougan’s research group at Imperial College. In this position Dr. Barber conducted research on Salmonella typhias vaccine, tetanus subunit and DNA vaccines and anti cancer vaccine. Dr. Li Barber has over 23 years of experience in research and development.
She joint Cantab Pharmaceutical Research Ltd UK and worked for four years after completing research Fellows position at Imperial College, at the same time she was also appointed as Senior Research Fellow at Department of Clinical Laboratory Science of Faculty of Medicine and Health Science of University of Nottingham UK in conjunction with vaccine development project at Cantab. Where at Cantab, she starts from project manager then to head of vaccine group. She is authors of over 20 research papers.
Dr. Li Barber is founder of two UK biotechnology companies Dragon Biotechnology Ltd and Xantek Biologicals Ltd focusing on veterinary vaccine and pharmaceutical products. Two companies have developed two key products since 2002 and currently marketed by world large animal health company worldwide. She remains as director position for both companies since 2002.
She has provided consulting service to biotech and pharmaceuticals companies for over 8 years, she provided consulting service to MPI Research Inc from 2006 – 2008 as scientific advisor for China Business. She worked with Chief Scientific Officer Dr. Stephen Porter and several senior study directors on establishing MPI China joint venture business, during this time she involved is GLP audit inspection and executed trail studies in several China top CROs. She also involved business due diligence and business development.
Dr. Li Barber currently is Chief Scientific Advisor to Beijing DongSheng Pharmaceutical International Co. a Chinese public traded company and responsible for new drug development and research.
Dr. Li Barber graduated with Biochemistry degree from Beijing Normal University and worked as research assistant at National laboratory of Biotechnology Institute of Process Engineering (current name) of Chinese Academy of Sciences, she was then joint Burroughs Wellcome Company as researcher at Department of Biotechnology for several years prior to study PhD in Imperial College.
Dr. Li Barber obtained accredited MBA at Business School of University of Leicester UK in 2000.
